Press Release: Barfield to Distribute Universal Synaptics Products Globally

Barfield signs exclusive agreement to distribute Universal Synaptics Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation products in global commercial aerospace industry.

Miami, October 31, 2018 - A major aviation industry player in the Americas, Barfield, an AFI KLM E&M subsidiary, is now the distributor of Utah based manufacturer, Universal Synaptics. Universal Synaptics supplies and manufactures the Intermittent Fault Detection and Isolation System™ (IFDIS™), the portable Voyager Intermittent Fault Detector™ (VIFD™) and derivatives.

"In the United States and elsewhere, we are present at all the biggest MRO trade shows, which allows us to give this revolutionary intermittent fault detection system the visibility it deserves. At a time when more and more industry players are becoming concerned about efficiency and cost reduction tools Universal Synaptics IFD is the answer to this growing need," says Hervé Page, Barfield's Chief Executive Officer.

A market-first patented neural-sensing circuitry
Universal Synaptics' technology has been adopted by the US military. In addition, the company developed the Intermittent Fault Detector (IFD) specifically with intermittence detection and isolation requirements in mind. The IFD can overcome the testing limitations of a continuity test. Universal Synaptics advanced technology simultaneously and continuously monitors all unit under test (UUT) circuits, detecting any and all intermittent faults that occur, even as short as *50 nanoseconds (0.00000005 seconds) in duration. Never before has there been a more comprehensive and complete wiring diagnostic solution.

"Together, Barfield and Universal Synaptics will provide the commercial aerospace industry proven solutions to improve dispatch reliability while reducing cost" said Ken Anderson, Universal Synaptics President and CEO. "This strategic partnership combines two innovative companies with a united focus on effectively reducing intermittent / No Fault Found in electronic systems."

This agreement will strengthen the partnership between the two companies allowing Barfield to introduce the IFD to the commercial aviation sector.

Paris, Amstelveen, 19 June 2018 - Barfield, the US bridgehead of AFI KLM E&M's global MRO network, has announced the signing of a regional distribution agreement with Falgayras SAS, a cutting-edge mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering oeM located at the heart of the aviation cluster around Toulouse in southern France. This is an exclusive multi-year agreement involving a selection of Falgayras products, and in particular windscreen wiper systems (wiper arms, blades and motors) fitted as original equipment to many Bombardier CSeries and Mitsubishi MRJ family aircraft, as well as Airbus Helicopter helicopters.

This latest partnership strengthens Barfield's growth strategy in the area of aircraft component distribution - one of the company's three businesses along with maintenance services and the supply of Ground Support Test Equipment (GSTE). Barfield already markets a wide range of aircraft parts in the Americas under partnerships with reputed oeMs, including Stelia, Airbus EAP, and Siemens Elta.

Christophe Falgayras, Chairman and CEO of Falgayras SAS, said: "Falgayras is proud of this new partnership with Barfield. It is designed to improve the effectiveness of our service by shortening our response times and sharing our North American and European customer portfolios. Our respective customers will therefore be the big winners under this agreement."

Barfield's Lew Wingate, Vice President GSTE and Distribution, added: "We turned to Falgayras due to the high quality of its products, acknowledged by leading aircraft and helicopter manufacturers worldwide. Falgayras components will form a highly complementary fit for the extensive catalogue of solutions distributed by Barfield. This agreement will enable us to better serve our existing customers, and also to reach out to potential new ones, especially operators of CSeries family fleets."
